Located 290 km south of the city of Aswan, Pharaoh Ramses II built his temple along with another slightly smaller one for his favorite wife, Queen Nefertari. Its facades are presided over by four enormous 20-meter-high statues considered to be the most impressive monuments remaining from Ancient Egypt. With the construction of the Aswan dam, these temples and many others were going to be submerged under the waters of the artificial Lake Nasser; to help its conservation, Egypt launched a global appeal through UNESCO. Many countries were involved in the transfer, piece by piece, to the place where they are now, a few meters from the previous location.<br \/>At night, the wonderful Light and Sound show will be attended in its temples; As a curious fact we will say that the music is by the Spanish composer Pep Llopis (Lliria, Valencia, 1945).
