First, you will visit the pyramids of Cheops, Kefren and Menkaure, located on the Giza plateau, about 25 km from the center of Cairo. The entrance to any pyramid is not included but they will have free time if they want to enter any of them by buying the ticket beforehand. They can also optionally take a camel ride or visit the Solar Boat Museum that houses the funeral boat of Cheops. Then, in a short bus ride, you will reach the Valley Temple and the Sphinx, which, carved from a single block of stone, measures about 57 meters in length and 20 in height.
Saqqara was the ancient necropolis of Memphis. Both pharaohs and high dignitaries and even sacred animals were buried in this enclosure. There is the pyramid of Djoser, known as the Step Pyramid, the oldest in Egypt, built in 2650 BC, which is the first built in stone. The restoration works finished recently and you can visit its interior.
Memphis is located 25 km away. south of Cairo and was the capital of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. In 1979, Memphis and its necropolis (area of the pyramids from Giza to Dahshur) were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its open-air museum contains pharaonic monuments from the Ancient Era, highlighting the 13.5-meter statue of the lying Pharaoh Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Later, the Papyrus Institute will be visited to see how sheets of this material are made. Note: Visits may change order.
